Antibiotics have changed from the Big Needle in the Butt of your grandparents' days. After a generation or two folks became so used to the penicillin derivatives that Science upped the ante to fast-acting new replacements.
All very 'well and good' were it not for the fact that some of these medications can cause side effects listed in 4 or five pages of warnings, not necessarily for every patient, but enough for alerts that many body systems may show reactions even after the initial infection is 'cured' - years after.
Not intending to scare anyone off docs, but watch what you choose as a remedy next time you are feeling poorly.
All Eyez on Me
The PhDilettante awaits the reviews, discussion, and all and sundry noise from deserters, fans, and those who know or think they know. Just sayin'.
The horoscope today said, "be brief," but it is difficult to be brief introducing a special friend of RIP Malice and The PhDilettante, Anthony DiMichele, whose words provide the title of today's write. Let him speak for himself.
Excerpts from Tooth and Word :
my fundamental social responsibility
is to govern how you treat me
Where do you come from?
I ask my shadow
leaning into the wall I am
leaning on trying to push it
into the world of existence
Anthony is a writer, artist in many media, photographer.

What is Art, Harry? Why do you ask - you're an accountant. [ old joke ]
Of course, Art is all around us in many forms. Rap / Hip-hop seems to be the ideal genre for the 21st Century. A unique fast-paced Century that is perhaps like no other since the Renaissance in its creativity, wealth and ingenuity running at a rapid clip 24-7.
It is said that those who grew up in a technical digital environment have a shorter attention span than their elders. Okay, given that, we give you rap.
Hamilton, the oh-so-successful rap opera showed that quality rap can be literate, literary, kinetic, colorful, witty and educational.
What better way to bring joy and knowledge - yes, Virginia, Knowledge - available to all and at a pace that holds any attention span. There is a small movement in the United States which is incorporating input from rappers and educators in school curricula. Putting those multiplication tables to a beat? Fine idea. Movement and rhyme, rhythm and repetition ... kids can learn faster and have fun.
Put this in the basket for further review and let's see how the concept develops.
This 'Seti' is not the Nineteenth Dynasty Pharaoh of Egypt; oh, my, no! SETI, or The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, is an international program of volunteers and professional researchers who track sound waves of different frequencies in their search for the one small clue that just might open the door to discovery of or communication with extraterrestrial life.
The "WOW Code" is so named because that was the gasp heard from researchers when they found a certain frequency repeated twice. No matter that is took 40 years to decode it - They Did. And it very well may be a Fibonacci Sequence ... maybe it was correct all along that mathematics is the language of the universe if not the universal language, hmmm? If you are so inclined, you might want to look into being a SETI@home volunteer.
Do you think our cover photo [shown here in a smaller version] seems like a glimpse of Tupac's trademark headscarf ?
Do you wish the rap/hip-hop community would stop fussing about Tupac's legacy and what 'group' can claim him?
Can everyone involved in this kerfuffle lighten up and enjoy the Man, his Music, and his Message?
PhDilettante is of the opinion that Tupac Shakur contributed much in his short life and 'killing' him again with post-mortem vitriol is not a good thing.
